Signing PDFs in the browser
Many agreements, consent forms and approvals only need a visible signature on the page. Signing in the browser avoids the print–sign–scan cycle, keeps the document sharp, and takes a minute instead of a trip to a printer.
Ways to add a signature
Open the document in the editor and draw your signature with a mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus, type it, or upload an image of your handwritten signature. Then position and resize it over the signature line. You can add dates, initials and printed names as text boxes in the same session.
For a clean uploaded signature, sign on white paper with a dark pen, photograph it in good light and crop tightly. A PNG with a transparent background looks most natural on the page.
How the signed file is saved
When you download, the signature is flattened into the page so it appears consistently in every reader and cannot simply be dragged off. The original unsigned file on your device is not changed.
Visible signatures versus certificate signatures
A drawn or typed signature is an electronic signature that is accepted for a wide range of everyday documents. Some legal, government and regulated processes require a certificate-based digital signature that cryptographically proves identity and detects later changes. Check the recipient's requirements for high-stakes documents.
